Watton
Youth Centre in Harvey Street was built by local people
to serve the needs of the young people of our
community. An enthusiastic
team led by Joe Nowak built the original small hall around 1966 followed
in 1973 by the
main sports hall. Over the
years the back offices and Brannan Room were added to make the building
what it is today.
Apart from a short period
when it was operated by Norfolk County Council, the building, which is
owned by Watton Town
Council, has been run
for the benefit of all the young and not so young of our community, by
the Council. It in use every day
and is base for a very wide
variety of organisations. The field at the back is used daily by youngsters
from the town.
An extensive programme of
work is planned for the future including field drainage, toilets, access
for the disabled and replacement
of windows
