ROTARY VOCATION AWARDS 2006
Ivan Chubbock, President of The Rotary
Club of Watton & District,
presented the Clubs annual Vocational Awards to individuals
and groups who are
involved in voluntary community activities.
The Individual Award
went to Chris Dalton.
Chris is well known
to many people in Watton and district as a teacher at Wayland
Community High School where, for 17 years, he has taught
English, PE and been
responsible for nurturing the amazing talent of students
with music abilities through
shows and competitions. A talented cricketer, he trains
both young
and old to a very high standard. Chris is a worthy recipient
of this award
The Group Award went
to the Watton Junior Hockey Club.
Paul Adcock received
this award on behalf of the club. He spoke about the
beginnings of the club in the 90's and how the club has
grown over the years to a
point where it is producing boys and girls from 8 to
13, who go on to represent Watton
in county teams in later life. Many go to Wayland and
Watton Junior School
and have represented the schools in county competitions.
Paul spoke about the growth of
hockey in Watton following the arrival of the Astroturf
pitch in the 90's
The work done on a voluntary basis by many adults from
September to April
make the club worthy winner of this award.
