Cabaret at last came to Wayland
Community High School on the 21st January.
Following months of rehearsals,
a sell out audience were treated a superb display
of humour, music and dance from
the young people from the school and some who
had recently left.
It would be wrong to pick out any
of the talented youngsters so a few representatives
would include David Ketteringham,
a young comic still looking for his brother,
Sophie Goveia who plays the violin
so well, Emily and Charlottes wonderful
rendition of old favourites brought
tears to the eyes of some of the audience, as
did the singing of Lorna Boulta.
Dancing by the students was excellent and the
quality of the dances by Nathan
Charles and his long term dance partner
Sammi Pownall, showed why it is
they perform so
fantastically in national dance
competitions.
All 67 of the young people involved
did so very well with the support of parent Joe Jay
and Chris Dalton. The evening was
in aid of the Friends campaign to provide 2 mini
busses for the school and to this
end they also laid on a super buffet supper and ran a
bar and raffle. Other students
backed up the evening
from the car parkers to the waitresses.
Well done to everyone and look forward to the next event
