YOUNG DESIGNER AWARDS 2006
The Rotary Club of
Watton & District held its annual prize giving for the Young Designer
of the Year competition,
held amongst GCSE students of Wayland Community High School
in Watton. Judged
by Rotarians Peter Beech and Rod Riley the winner was Emily
Creed
who produced
an outstanding example of dressmaking which went forward to the District
finals.
Club President Ivan Chubbock presents a certificate and
cheque to Emily.
Emily is here with Head of DT, Sandra Pillay, teacher
Val Wenham and Peter Beech.
Up against strong
opposition at the District finals, Emily was awarded 2nd prize.
As well as a certificate
she received £50 for herself and £50 for the school.
A competition was also
held to get all the Rotary Clubs in District 1080 who are involved
in the Young Designer
competition, to have students produce a logo to be used on all district
paperwork relating
to the competition. 13 Wayland students were entered for this competition
and the one from Michelle
Marham was chosen as district winner. Wayland won the first
competition last year.
As well as a certificate she also received £50.
