Wemb/Weeze Music Band in Watton
Friday the 26th October saw the band come to Watton to
stay at Wayland Community High School
as part of an initiative to expand Twinning links by
Town Mayor Keith Gilbert.
The 40 strong group arrived after an overnight crossing
and settled down to an hours rehearsal
before going bowling at Strikes in Dereham. On Saturday,
after breakfast they had further
rehearsals before going to Norwich. On return to Wayland
they had a barbecue
before the 7pm concert.
The 30 band members were aged from 8 and played with maturity
a full range of music
from our National Anthem to rock and roll. The band is
led by Marton Valkysers
and is conducted by Hans-Gert Stienen and has several
family groupings.
The limited audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening and
the band is looking forward
to welcoming young musicians from Watton returning to
Weeze in the future.
This council event was arranged by Richard Crabtree and
Keith Gilbert with help
from Jacqui Seal, Alf Harvey and his wife Ann.
Refreshments were arranged by
the Watton Twinning Association. Our thanks must go to
the headteacher
Mr Rose, his Deputy Mr Parry, School Catering staff and
the site management team.
