On behalf of the Watton Society, John Craigie, the new
Mayor judged the short listed
Watton in Bloom gardens on Sunday 25th June on a blazing
hot day. The slow cold start to the
Summer season was apparent in comparison to last years
show of bedding plants. However, the
flowering shrubs, in responding to the warmth of the
first weeks of June, more than made
up the colour that is usual at this time of year. Mr
R A and Mrs W J Sellen were awarded
the silver platter for the year and Mrs Sellen is shown
with the trophy in front of her standard rose;
One of several in her garden, which has a pink theme
underscored small leaved peiris bushes.
Once again a further 9 high achievers have each been
rewarded with certificates of merit in
recognition of the contribution made towards making Watton
an attractive environment.
Bryan H. Wykes, Vice Chairman, Watton Society.
