Since 1952 Watton has had a Scout Group  Over the years it has seen many changes of members, leaders
and the make up of the group. In 1988 Alan became one of the leaders and later became Scout Leader and
Group Scout Leader. Denise joined in 1995 as Assistant Scout Leader and the chidren joined as Scouts in 1997
and 1998. Alan and Denise have given so much time to Scouts over the years and have been
involved in many of the traditional activities of the organisation. They are also always to be found at shows
and events raising much needed funds for the group. They are leaving behind the day to day work of
running the Scout Troop later this year and we wish them well.

Introduced by Martin Anscombe, Derek Smith & George Wilson the Individual Winner this year is
Janis Crabtree. She has over the past 30 years worked for the whole community. For 24 years as
a Town Councillor and during her three sessions as Mayor she signed the Twinning Charter in Weeze
and Watton. She was Chairman of the 100 year celebrations of Watton Council and oversaw
many of the changes in the Council over the years. She is heavily involved at the Junior School and
devotes much of her time to Wayland Community High School where she has been Chairman
of Governors for many years. She is a long serving Magistrate and has had a long time involvement
with the Youth Centre.Despite very serious illness over the past two years which has curtailed
some of her activities she is well known and respected wherever she goes and her
even handed attention to detail is unwaivering.
